Quintessence
Quintessence is the magical substance that Elemental Planes are made of. While one form quintessence can interact with other forms in innumerable ways, at it's core a singular piece of quintessence can be only be broken down into a tightly bound set of Mesh Conjuncts referred to as a Magicule.
Composition
Each magicule is formed of three Mesh Conjuncts. There are 7 types of Mesh Conjunct, separated into 2 categories: Elemental and Energetic. Each Magicule is composed of 1 Energetic Conjunct and 2 Elemental Conjuncts. As an example, a single Magicule of Clay is comprised of 1 Positive, 1 Earth, and 1 Water Conjunct. A single Magicule of Ash is comprised of 2 Fire Conjuncts and 1 Negative Conjunct.
Elemental Conjuncts:
- Fire
- Water
- Earth
- Air
Energetic Conjuncts:
- Positive
- Negative
- Neutral
In Relation to Planes
Each of the Elemental Planes is primarily composed of a singular form of Quintessence. The restrictions on the composition of a Magicule means that there are only 30 distinct forms of Quintessence possible. Notably, the Positive and Negative Planes are not formed of magicules, but rather raw, unbound Energetic Conjuncts. It is unknown why there is no corresponding Neutral Energy Plane. Some academics at the Peakorth Academy theorize that this is because Neutral Conjuncts simply do not exist, and are just used as a convenient explanation to fill the third conjunct of a given Magicule, though this idea is often ridiculed by those outside their society.
