The Folketen are an ethnicity native to Memphur. They frequently construct cities and nations entirely underground.

Folketen are very reticent to give their true name to others. Instead, they often provide a name that they have earned due to action on their part, often as part of a coming-of-age ritual.

The Mennesker are a closely related group that have adapted to life on the surface.

Physical Appearance

Folketen stand on average between 3'5" and 4'0" and weigh between 160-200 pounds. Their eye colors range from dark brown to deep green. Their hair ranges from blacks to deep browns, and is typically worn long. Most Folketen societies view gender as a personal affair, and often do not outwardly display and differences in gender by their dress or habits.

Folketen reach physical maturity around the age of 30, but are often not considered adults until they have completed training in their chosen profession, often represented by crafting a notable object or defeating a worthy opponent. Barring accident or illness, their natural lifespan is around 350 years.

Personality and Culture

Most Folketen place very high value on families and craftsmanship. Many practice a form of ancestor worship, though the specifics vary wildly from one region to another.

Positions of leadership are often held by those who have created masterful artifacts.
