The Age of Fey marks the beginning of the Universal Reckoning calendar. In 1 UR, the Fey Sphere metaphysically collided with the Material Plane. The first few decades of the age were very tumultuous, with naturally occurring Crimps appearing globally and Fey Creatures migrating to the Material Plane.
After a period of roughly 40 years, the Fey Sphere had passed through the Material Plane and begun to make it's way to the outer reaches of the Planar Mesh. During this period, the majority of Crimps close, leaving only the most stable in place.
Around the year 750 UR, the Fey Sphere had fallen into a stable orbit around the Planar mesh, where it remains.
